Bug Management Overview by DanRabbit Bug Management Overview by DanRabbit
Not really liking the latest changes to the bug tracker in Launchpad. Playing around with what I think a better tracker would look like.

The main concept here is presenting bugs in the order in which one should tackle them. That is, pushing bug management tasks (like confirming and sort new reports) to the top, followed by having bugs sorted by milestone, and then importance.

Something else I wanted to add is a sense of urgency. A ticket's time stamp moves from blue to red as it ages. Tickets with a priority of medium or higher are color coded with aggressive colors. Each milestone shows how many tickets you've tackled, how many you have left, and the time you have left if you've targeted that milestone for a certain release date. Additionally, tickets clearly show how many users have reported being affected.

Lots of work to do, not everything I want to see here yet, no plans for implementation. Just messing around :p

The dotted outline styling on the new bug reports makes them look like buttons to create bug reports.

Interesting use of the search bar to search for and report bugs, though many times people won't search for an existing bug report before creating a new one. Also, people will probably see the search icon first and then ignore the text, so they won't know the bar can also be used to create tickets. I'm not really sure what a better way is, though. Maybe have the bar say something like "Type your problem" and suggest existing tickets with an option to create a new one at the bottom?

That's an interesting take on it. I wanted to give them the feeling that they existing but weren't really... there. A new bug report means that it's been reported but it's not a confirmed issue.

Yea, I was thinking about getting rid of the search bar and definitely having the "create new ticket" button at the bottom of the suggestions sounds like the right way to go here. I do feel like we need to force people to search for existing tickets before creating new ones ;)

This is beautiful, to a point where if it existed I'd probably write more bug reports just so I can stare at it longer (and in action).

My only question is, why not make the tickets' timestamps have background colours somewhat like the priorities? They'd be smaller and on the opposite side, so there's little risk of them being mixed, and it'd make the fact that you might have a red timestamp easier to see since it's more highlighted.

Looks just amazing.
I mostly like the colors, they show nicely the importance :)
(even when they steal a bit the perspective from the bugcontent... i think ^^)
